We visited Torung Restaurant in Thai Town late on a Friday night, and it was just what we needed. The place was busy, but the service was friendly and quick, which made for a welcoming experience. The seating consists of nice booths that feel like a throwback to the 80s--definitely retro, but super comfortable, which added to the charm. The menu is large and the food is very competitively priced, which is a big plus. We decided on the Napa Cabbage Soup with ground pork and mushrooms, and the Larb with ground chicken. The soup was clean, warm, and comforting--perfect for a chilly late-night bite. The Larb had a nice kick to it, with just the right level of spice, though the meat was a bit on the drier side. Overall, Torung is a great spot to hit after a night out. It's got a vibrant, friendly atmosphere and is very affordable (just remember it's cash only). Whether you're in the mood for some comfort food or a bit of spice, it's definitely worth a visit!

I can't recommend Torung enough! This Thai food place is a hidden gem with incredible dishes that are both cheap and delicious. The pad Thai is rich and flavorful, and the curry packs a perfect punch. Sure, the staff might come off a bit brusque, but honestly, the fantastic food more than makes up for it. If you're looking for authentic Thai cuisine without breaking the bank, Torung is the place to go! Also they close late!

This review is well overdue -- I adore Torung! I first dined late at night after an event at The Poetry Lounge in 2018!! The interior is unpretentious and comfortable. And the outdated decorations definitely add to the unique charm of the restaurant. The service is swift with no frills. The food is so yummy too! What you're getting for the price is insane. They are SO affordable. $8 for a curry? In 2024? in LA? And it tastes good? Sounds like a win to me! We always order the yellow curry with chicken, crab fried rice (gotta try!), a noodle dish, and crispy chicken wontons. Also to note, the food comes out SO FAST. I unintentionally timed it once and it took like 4 mins lol Some of the cons, that I don't think are worth dinging the rating or not coming at all, include the establishment being cash only -- kinda inconvenient but whatever. Also, my usual go-to dish, drunken noodles, is not very good here. I skip it and get other things. Lastly, when you ask for hot, it's never really thaaat hot so I'll add some of the sauces and chilis. For what they charge, you should be getting a wonderful experience. My other fave Thai spot up the street is good too, but so damn pricey, almost double per dish. So I'm more than happy to dine at Torung on any given night.
